Talmage-Rostron (2023) states, "By embracing and valuing diversity, organizations and societies can thrive by leveraging the strengths and talents of a diverse workforce or community, ultimately leading to greater unity, collaboration, and collective growth" (para. 2). Talmage-Rostron goes on to list other benefits, but one that stuck out to me was the ability to retain top talent. If an organization were to exclude a group or groups of people, they would miss out on some of the best talent. For instance, Sundar Pichai who is the CEO of Google, one of the most successful companies in the world and he is a minority; if Google did not value diversity, they would not have benefited from his leadership (Shepherd, n.d.). Additionally, when leaders are sincere about diversity and inclusion it allows people to achieve their potential because they can work towards their goals unafraid and without barriers. When employees can do that, the organization will also benefit as well
