One particular night, he was driving home from being out with his friends and fell asleep at the wheel. He loss control of the SUV he was driving and ended up at the bottom of a empty ravine. He sustained multiple broken bones, multiple lacerations and a significant head injury. He was airlifted to University hospital after being found unconscious by some hunters several hours after the accident. Jason was Unconscious and had lost a large amount of blood Upon arrival he was admitted to the trauma team in the ICU. He was in ICU for 2 weeks, then transferred to a regular in-patient room in the hospital for one week. After 3 weeks in the hospital, Jason was ready to be transferred because his condition had been stabilized. At this point in time, he was in great need of very specialized care including intense psychological, physical, occupational, and speech therapies because of his head injury and other physical injuries.
