Online Shaming of Sexual Harassers

Exhibitionism by men and harassment of women on public spaces is not unusual. In December 2018, an unidentified woman took a video of a male co-passenger exposing his privates beside her while they were riding a packed bus in Metro Manila. While most women in similar circumstances ignore the obscene conduct and keep silent, the woman shows courage and presence of mind exposing the exhibitionist in social media. The video shows him zipping up his pants and embarrassed after she began cursing him. The video went viral and sparked heated debates among netizens. Most were supportive and sympathetic with her action as they bare similar experiences of harassment in public places. However, there were also some who objected to her posting of the video in social media and hold that online shaming him was too extreme.
