1. In a full paragraph please explain Carol Dweck's concepts of "the power of 'yet'" and "the tyranny of 'now'". Then, reflect on your own life. Are there any things/skills/abilities that you think are stuck in the "tyranny of now"? What areas in your life, if any, do you have a fixed mindset about?

2. Reply to the below Posting #1 in one full paragraph. Do you share that fixed mindset? Have you figured out ways to approach it with a more growth mindset and harness the power of 'yet'? How can we grow and become more skilled and more confident in these areas?

When Carol is talking about "yet", I she is saying that you're not quite done. There is plenty of room for improvement. Sometimes it could mean that you've barely even started. You have plenty of time and room to grow so when someone thinks that you are done, you know for sure that this isn't the end. When she is talking about the tyranny of now, she is saying that you are done. You are at your checkpoint. It's what happened right "now".

The main thing I can think of that relates to me with "yet", is my journey to become a mechanic. Sure, I'm already a mechanic, but am I a great one? No. I have so much room for improvement. So, when I get asked if I'm a good enough mechanic to fix this or that, I don't say no, I say not "yet".

The tyranny of now relates to me in the fact that I am done with my semester class in high school. I'll never have to step foot in that room ever again. This isn't the best example but it's the only thing I could think of that relates to me.
