Ontario's MOT has mandated the efficient and secure deployment of information

technology to provide the safe and efficient moving of people and goods across Ontario.

The Province's MOT system stores vehicle and traffic information of companies and

residents in Ontario. The MOT System provides information and support on the

followings:

$$ Vehicles in Ontario

The design and analysis of the fully integrated MOT system will be undertaken from Jan

$2,2024$ to December $30,2024.$ The new system will be developed, implemented and

tested in $2025$ and the full operation of the system will commence in $2026.$

Computing Configuration

The MOT System shall be made available to all residents in Ontario electronically via the

customized portal of the Ministry of Transportation$$s Web$-$Site over the Internet. In

addition, new information kiosks will be installed in the foyer of Service Ontario

locations, Licensing Renewal Offices as well as major shopping malls throughout

Metropolitan Toronto and different regions. In term of connectivity, these new

information kiosks will be connected, via an Ethernet$-$based LAN, to the Area Server

strategically housed in various regional offices and all the regional servers are in turn

connected to the Headquarter Computer via the Ontario Transportation System Network.

It is expected that $1000$ new kiosks will be acquired for this heterogeneous computing

configuration and will be available for secure public access. In addition, Ontario residents

can access the MOT System in the comfort and privacy of their own homes over the

Internet and thru the different social media portals connected to the MOT System

Network.

MOT Services or Activities

In developing this fully integrated MOT System, your Project Group can make any

reasonable or pertinent assumptions$/$constraints in relation to

$-$ the computing architecture of Ministry of Transportation;

$-$ the categories of driver$/$vehicle$/$traffic information stored in the MOT data bases;

$-$ the modes of delivery of Services$/$Support by the MOT in Ontario;

$-$ the interoperability of processing platforms and the portability of existing

information systems; and

$-$ the size and availability of developmental budgets at the MOT in Ontario.
