Open Letter/Advocacy Letter

1) Identify a societal or community issue/concern in Canada(e.g. lack of affordable housing; police violence/accountability; specific immigration policies; etc.).

2) Identify who you will address the letter to (e.g. Director of the school board, minister of Health, MP, etc.).

3) Discuss the issue.

4) Critique the existing policies and practices that fail to address or exacerbate the issue.

5) Propose alternate approaches.

* Note: you can also choose to write an individual client advocacy letter. In this case, you will use an imagined case to support a client in accessing a particular resource (e.g. housing, refugee status, HRT, court diversion, child custody, etc.)
