They will only write, and not verbally say the verdict, as it is done procedurally in the Civil Law System. The topic is: Be It Resolved That the International Permanent Court of Arbitration, determine sovereignty of the Magattary Islands. . For those students who are lawyers presenting in court as one of the parties (already chosen) giving a disposition, each student will either speak or write. [N.B. no longer working in groups!] Give an argument speech between three to three and a quarter minute (3-3 '4) Besides using the case study, they also have to use international law and philosophy of law in their argument. o Lawyers must present on January 25 or 26. . For those students who sit as judges, they are expected verbally only to call on the different parties to speak. Instead, they will each write about 300 - 350 word rational for the decision (each judge will send a separate email paper with their own personal rational) [judges are not working In groups]. o Besides using the case study, they also must use international law and philosophy of law in their verdict. Judges must hand in their paper by Monday January 29 N.B. For International law and philosophy of law in your argument/verdict, it means the use of the PPTs, the textbooks that have been used in this course, YouTube videos, teacher made videos, handouts, and/or any other online resource you want to use.
