Organization Name: Bacpoint, Inc.
Address: 340 S LEMON AVE #8611, WALNUT, CA 91789
Website: https://www.ethoshealth.io/
Mission: Bacpoint, Inc. aims to increase the awareness, control and health-consciousness of drinkers.
Organization Overview
Bacpoint, Inc. ("BACPOINT" or the "company") is a Los Angeles-based start-up company developing and
commercializing proprietary technology that provides personalized, data-driven insights about one's
relationship with alcohol.
Bacpoint was founded in early 2022, when its founders identified a confluence of market demand and
government regulations. During the past two years, there has been a 20% CAGR in the global fitness
tracking market, sized at $38B, due to increased health conscientiousness worldwide. During that same
time frame, alcohol sales increased by 262%. With a growing adoption of digital health solutions to track
and monitor health related conditions, and increases in alcohol consumption, Bacpoint is working on
providing digital health solutions to alcohol consumption. The same trend is being noticed by the
government. Within the Biden 1.2T Infrastructure bill, $17 billion has been allocated to transdermal
alcohol monitoring technology.
The company began developing a corporate strategy segmented into three horizons. The first horizon
aims to build the awareness of social drinkers to their alcohol related habits and consumption patterns.
Its first product, EthosTM, is a mobile app designed to increase the awareness of social drinkers'
relationship to their alcohol consumption.
The second horizon is an additional software tool that will estimate a user's Blood Alcohol Content (BAC).
By accounting for interpersonal factors and the alcohol content of one's drinks the company has
developed a proprietary Machine-Learning Algorithm that will gain FDA approval as a Software as a
Medical Device (SaMD) to make the utility of a breathalyzer cheaper and more accessible than what's
currently on the market.
2
The third horizon is a wearable device that will passively and continuously monitor alcohol similarly to
how a Fitbit or apple watch can measure metrics such as heart rate. This product will ultimately open
more B2B applications where alcohol monitoring can be used to reduce risk at the workplace or improve
the outcome of patients.
We Strive to:
Increase the awareness of social drinkers
Provide tools to help track and monitor alcohol consumption
Apply data analytics to identify patterns of alcohol related behaviors to end users to assist them
make better decisions

Need Description:
Bacpoint is a digital health and wellness startup based in Los Angeles, CA that is developing an
innovative approach to increase user's awareness of their alcohol consumption based on data science
and clinical data. We have identified an initial market segment to target with our mobile app and have
also developed a product development roadmap that includes obtaining FDA approval on a softwarebased breathalyzer, and also developing interventional tools related to alcohol consumption. The
operating team is aware of opportunities in other industry verticals and B2B applications. In order to
determine which of these segments to target, when to target them, and how to target the chosen
segments.
Bacpoint's executive team is seeking analysis and recommendations from three student groups, each
of which will focus on a different commercial application. Bacpoint is exploring its commercial
applications beyond the B2C market towards B2B opportunities in the insurance, manufacturing, and
logistics industries. The digital health space is an emerging space with novel applications across various
industries. Each group will perform a multidisciplinary analysis, including market opportunity
assessment, and execution strategy.
Phase 1
1. PESTEL analysis with major factors clearly listed. What are the big variables that
can help or hurt BACpoint?
2. industry analysis (think five forces, grouping)
3. SWOT analysis and highlight areas that support their strengths and take advantage
of opportunities. Also acknowledge their opportunities and threats.
