Original questions: These data were collected from a sample of 40 courses offered at one liberal arts college. TheFieldvariable is the general discipline of the course. Books is the number of books required by the course.Costis the total cost of the required books
- What percent of courses in this sample required 3 or more books? Show how you computed this.
My answer below is correct but I was told there should be a formula to determine this. There was 40 classes and 13 of them required 3 or more books. I am not sure what formula he wants to interpret the percentage.
The number of required books in the data showed 13 total books which is divided by the total number of books which is 40.
To get the percentage of 3 or more books is taken 13 /40
This equals (as decimal) = 0.325
The final percent is converting the decimal to percentage = 0.325 x 100
The percentage of books of 3 or more = 32.5%
