Our perception of things can affect our behavior because our eyes may see something that is or not there. Perception and behavior are linked, and people act by their perceptions. We are going to behave according to the things that we perceive. The five senses- sight, taste, touch, hearing and smell all collect information about our environment that get interpreted by the brain. So yes I believe that all five of our senses are equally important, because if you don't have one of the senses then the rest of the senses are going to become amplified. For example, those that are blind have excellent smell and hearing, and they rely on those. If I were asked to give up a sensory ability I would choose to give up my smell, not that I want to give up one of my senses. But I would choose to give up my smell, because there would be no way that I could live without being able to see, taste, touch, or hear. I think that losing my smell would cause me to miss out on all memories that smell can bring. Being able to smell links us to people, places, and emotional experiences. So by losing your sense of smell, those types of memories caused by smell wouldn't happen anymore. I think that smell loss would be a blessing and a curse, because you wouldn't have to smell anything nasty but you would also have no idea if you smelled, or if your house smelled, or if there was a gas leak, that would be a big downfall.opinion only
