Overview At the end of the semester, you will present a poster on the statistical analysis of a real dataset. The first project assignment is the Research Project Proposal, where you will choose the topic of your study, describe the specific variables you will measure, explain how you will collect the data, and predict what relationships you expect to find. You get to choose your own topic, so pick something that interests you! You can design your own survey, use publically available data, or use data you are currently working with for a lab or research group. Regardless of your topic, your research project must include the following: 1. One numeric response variable that is your main variable of interest (what you want to explain or predict). 2. Two explanatory variables that are, in theory, related to your response variable. The explanatory variables can be categorical or numeric. 3. A sample size of at least 60 independent observations. You cannot use data that is paired or contains repeated measurements from sample subjects. Also, your data must be individual-level observations, not aggregated data (i.e. frequency counts or other summary statistics for groups of observations)
