Overview: For this week's assignment, you will analyze the following scenario: Scenario: It is 10 pm on July 27th in the city of Torrancetown. It is a hot night with near recordbreaking temperatures. Due to a recent storm, power is out in the 'Diamond District' of the city, which is the name the locals have given a commercial district that consists of many high-end jewelry and clothing stores. Due to a recent storm, all 'Diamond District' stores have lost power. You are a member of the police department's burglary squad. You have been sent to the scene of the Diamond Exchange Jewelry store on 1061 Morningstar Rd., where a burglary was reported. You meet with the store owner. He tells you that he went to check on the store when he found out the power was lost. He was planning on staying at the store until the power was restored. It appears an entry was made into the store through a damaged rear window. The alarm to the store is nonfunctional due to the recent power outage. The window has discernible pry marks on the lock and frame and several red fibers were found on the door. Several glass cases containing diamond jewelry had been broken into and the jewelry had been taken. One of the initial responding officers informs you that a suspect has been detained in the vicinity of the store behind a local strip mall. They were in possession of a large crowbar that was freshly damaged. The store owner tells you that when he entered the store there was a strong smell of cigarettes. Neither he nor his employees smoke.
