Overview:In this activity you will be required to explore the business world around you.Each student will individually visit a local business of any type, this may be a local branch of an international business, such as McDonalds, Apple store, or your favourite local caf or supermarket.

Aim:There are two major learning goals in this activity:

1) To recognise how the management skills and theories you have learnt in the course apply to the everyday business world

2) To evaluate how your strengths may help you succeed in this business, and what weaknesse areas you should try to improve

What should you do?

Select a business which you find interesting, or is convenient to observe. Visit the business and spend some time observing the day-to-day operation of the organisation. Try to identify the manager among the staff, and observe how the staff work together to complete the necessary activities of the business. Have a special focus on identifyingexamples of how the business/manager are demonstrating skills and knowledge relevant to the Management course. Consider POLC, Goal setting, Action Planning, Teamwork and Decision Making
