Overview

Managers, by the nature of their jobs, are required to make presentations at various levels of a healthcare organization. These presentations may be as simple as a brief discussion with staff or as complex as a presentation to upper management. How managers organize their presentations, how well they prepare, and how well they know the subject matter will determine their success.

  • Why is it an ineffective practice to read to your audience?
  • Explain the importance of visual aids.
  • Why is it a poor practice to convey a great deal of information to the audience?
  • What is the best way to begin a presentation?

  • Distinguish three levels of communication in healthcare organizations and describe the role of communication as a management tool (CLO 5 and 6)
  • Demonstrate effective oral communication, plan, and implement strategic communication (CLO 5)
  • Evaluate the results from a competency assessment, then use this information as a catalyst from professional development. (CLO 4)
