(Overview) We all use the Internet to do different things. For example, people use the Internet to access search engines to look up things, do shopping on Amazon or other shopping sites, play online games, watch streaming media, upload pictures, and videos to social media websites, post messages, etc. When you buy Internet access from your ISP, they promise a specific performance. If you want better performance, the ISP will likely charge you more. (Directions) For your reply, compare your Internet usage with that of other students and offer suggestions on how to improve Internet performance. (Other Student Post) Three things that I usually use the internet for would include watching Youtube, using social media to message friends, such as Instagram and TikTok, and playing online games on the side, such as adventure or interactive games. For Youtube, the minimum internet performance requirement would be 5 Mbps to stream a video resolution of HD 1080p (Christiansens, 2021). For Instagram and Tiktok, you would need 3-10 Mbps. In order to play online games, most video game manufacturers recommend at least 3 Mbps of download speed and 0.5 to 1 Mbps for upload for a good internet speed. However, Xfinity recommends speed tiers with download speeds of 300 Mbps and above for the "ultimate gaming experience". For the internet speed test I took, the results it gave me include: 360.7 download Mbps 23.4 upload Mbps Ping 8ms The internet service provider, Xfinity, provides a plan of 300 Mbps downloads speed with 5 Mbps. I am getting a little bit more than paid for.
