Owner was the owner of a very nice house. His Neighbor knew Owner hated to mow his lawn and decided that this might be an opportunity to make some extra money. Neighbor handed Owner a signed letter offering to mow Owner's lawn every Friday for the next eight Fridays for $40 per mowing. This amount was to be paid on each Saturday following the Friday on which Neighbor was to mow.

Owner marked through the $40 per mowing provision and changed the price to $35 per mowing. He also marked through the provision for payment on each Saturday and substituted a provision that Owner would pay Neighbor on each fourth Saturday. Owner then initialed each change he made, signed the letter at the bottom, and gave it back to Neighbor. Neighbor initialed each of the changes and returned the letter to Owner.

The next day Neighbor told Owner that he would like to change the price to $40 per mowing. Owner said, "Ok, $40 per mowing, but you also have to trim." Neighbor responded, "Ok, $40 per mowing and trimming."

Starting that Friday, Neighbor mowed and trimmed Owner's lawn on the next four consecutive Fridays. The following Saturday, Owner paid Neighbor $140 ($35 x 4) for mowing and trimming his yard for four (4) consecutive Fridays. Neighbor feels that he is entitled to be paid at the rate of $40 for each Friday's work, therefore he feels he is entitled to an additional $20 based upon their agreement.

Is Neighbor entitled to the additional $20 for mowing and trimming Owner's yard under their agreement? Discuss.
