paraphrase Employers are generally encouraged to work with qualified individuals with disabilities to determine the most appropriate accommodation, particularly when an employer is considering a number of options.55 Despite the EEOC's desire for the parties to work collaboratively to make these decisions, however, employers are not required to accept any accommodation proposed by the disabled individual. p. 141Instead, employers have the right to select the reasonable accommodation that will minimize the impact on its business operations.56 Consistent with this, the EEOC has specifically supported the employer's right to make the ultimate decision about which accommodation is to be provided, as long as it is reasonable, eliminates the workplace barrier, and enables the disabled individual to enjoy the same benefits and protections afforded to co-workers. Such benefits and privileges would include such things as ensuring that all employees have the same access to the same opportunities for promotional advancements as well as the same chance to attend educational programs and social events
