Parasuraman (2000) proposed a new taxonomy of potential users, based on their Technology Readiness. A person's technology readiness can be defined as: an overall state of mind resulting from mental enablers and inhibitors that collectively determine a person's predisposition to use new technologies. Parasuraman distinguished four dimensions to operationalize technology readiness (See Exhibit 1.1). The items were measured on a 7-point Likert scale. A study was undertaken for assessing the validity and reliability of the measurement instrument using 200 respondents. Factor analysis was used to evaluate the underlying 4-Factor structure of the instrument. The results are summarized as follows.
