What specific organizing strategies or tactics did you notice of these female activists utilize? How did these strategies differ from the male-dominated (much more promoted) activism? Part 2: Consider the challenges in creating a "popular history" of the civil rights movement. Do a quick GOOGLE SEARCH on films and television about the civil Rights movement.....not so much documentaries but popular films. How many of these films are from a male perspective or about a male lead character? Movies like Hidden Figures present a "hidden. history of the achievements of African American women in the early days of the space program....but reflect upon why women of the movement continue to be ignored in both popular history as well as in popular film and television.
