Part B: Short answer

Past year Final Examination (Jan 2017)

Utilitarianism, Rights and Justice viewed the Malden Mill Factory incident and the conduct of Aaron Feuerstein towards his workers from an impartial standpoint, wherein Utilitarianism advocated that Feuerstein did not owe any obligation to the workers and that the obligation must give way to an act that would Maximize utility. Rights advocated that the workers have no moral right to claim wages nor the moral right to have the factory rebuilt and Justice theory advocated that the workers cannot demand that the factory be rebuilt as Feuerstein is not obligated to support them anymore.

Discuss the standpoint taken by the Ethics of Care in respect of Feuerstein's conduct. (10 marks)
