1. Write the permutation formula for a situation where:

a) you are choosing 3 different flavours for your triple-scoop ice cream cone when the ice cream parlour has 31 flavours

b) 4 teams of firefighters need to enter a burning school building, each using a different entrance from a choice of 9 entrances.

2. There are 8 relay teams racing in the finals at the Olympics. In how many ways can the members of each winning team be arranged on the podiums if all the teams have a fair chance of winning gold, silver and bronze medals?

Note: Each team has 4 members and could finish in any one of the top 3 positions. Each member of a winning team can stand in any order on each of the podiums
