Part B: Hypothesis Testing and Confidence Intervals

Test each of the following two hypotheses using = 0.05. Week 1,4, and 5 spreadsheets can be used.

1. Mean sales per week exceed 42.5 per salesperson

2. Mean time per call is 14.7 minutes

  • The data file is available under "Files". "Files" is located in the left main menu.Perform a hypothesis test for each hypothesis in order to see if there is evidence to support it. You can use either the p-value approach or the critical-values approach to draw conclusions. You need to explain your conclusion and interpret that to the claim in simple terms
  • Compute a 99% confidence interval for the mean of each variable used in the above hypotheses and interpret the intervals.
  • Report about the results, distilling down the results in a way that would be understandable to someone who does not know statistics. Clear explanations and interpretations are critical
  • The report is due by the end of Week 6.
  • Part B project is worth 100 total points. See grading rubric below.

Report Format:

  1. All results. Include Excel screenshots of all results ORall formulas used.
  2. Summary (about one paragraph on each of the two hypothesis tests)

SALES represents the number of sales made in one week.

CALLS represents the number of calls made in that week.

TIME represents the average time per call in that week.

YEARS represents years of experience the employee had in the call center. TYPE represents the type of training the employee received
