Design

A between subjects design was used.

The independent variable was the learning condition

There were two groups: condition 1 and condition 2 .

The IV was manipulated someparticipants were restudying and some were tested

Materials

There were sixty word pairs.

Procedure

Session 1 had 3 3-minute blocks.

During the first block all participantswere to study the pairs for a period of time .

Word pairs were presented for 4 seconds .

The second and third blocks had half of the participants restudy and the other half did the cued recall test.

The retest group had unlimited time to type which word was a part of the word pair.

Session 2 occurred 1 weeklater.

During session 2 all participants took a memory test .

Participants had unlimited time to complete the test .

Finally, participants completed a questionnaire .
