Perry Mason asked his secretary Della Street to take her car and deliver a pleading to the courthouse for filing. Driving to the courthouse, Della accidentally ran a stop sign and caused a driver to clip the rear-end of her automobile and run off the road into a ditch. Although the driver was uninjured, damages to her automobile and the cost of a tow truck to pull her back up onto the road totaled $950. Della proceeded to the courthouse, filed the pleading and then decided to go meet her friend Paul Drake at the No Tell Motel and All-You-Can-Eat Buffet for "lunch".
