You will be helping a local charity with fund development in the form of a persuasive funding letter. You are acting as the charitys fundraiser. Purpose? You will utilize persuasive skills, you have learned in class and through the course material and apply them to fund development. What are you asking? You will be writing a letter to me, Michael Lin, a wealthy entrepreneur, asking for a $250,000 donation to your charity. Choose 1 charity listed below. 1. Research your organizations. Collect information from the organizations and gather research to provide background information, context, and importance. Be sure to think of the problem(s) the organization might be facing. To gather your information you may use Statistics Canada, Medicine Hat Police Service, Medicine Hats Vital Signs, recent news reports, the organizations website, and Alberta Health Services. DO NOT CALL OR CONTACT THE CHARITY. You will then decide on the appropriate approach for your letter and write a persuasive letter requesting funding. Afterwards, you will present your appeal to me, the wealthy entrepreneur, and request funding in a 5-minute presentation (presentation information in a separate assignment description).
