Synops is On Saturday, February 9", 2021, you are working the 16:00-01:00 shift at 51 Division. You are assigned scout car 5 109 and your escort is PC Toms #6420. At 20:40, you receive a call for a possible criminal harassment. The call- The complainant, Carolyn Sover will be at her home address of 583 Sherbourne Street, Apartment 2113. Buzz code 198. The complainant claims her ex-boyfriend Mike is stalking her. You acknowledge the call and proceed over to the address. Upon arrival at 20:55, you are buzzed into the building and make your way up to the unit. A female answers the door who identifies herself as Carolyn Sover and asks you and your escort to come into her apartment. She is concerned that her neighbors, who are nosy, will start gossiping and speculating about why police are at her door and she would prefer to avoid the gossip. You enter with your escort and gather the following information: Carolyn Sover is 24 years of age, born July 12", 1997, phone number 289-897-4545. Carolyn was dating a person by the name of Mike Williams, 28 years of age, born June 16, 1993, address 432 Bleeker St, phone number 289-777-6622. On October 31, 2020, they met at a bar in the entertainment district called "Crocodile Rocks" and dated for two months. Carolyn broke up with Mike because he was becoming clingy. However, Mike continued to call Carolyn on her cell phone even after she told him to stop. Starting two weeks ago, the call were coming in rapidly all day and through the night, keeping her awake. Carolyn could not turn the ringer off on her phone because her mother was sick, and she feared missing an important call for help. On February 7, 2021, Mike began to say things over the telephone to Carolyn which included that he was watching her and could see that she was now seeing someone else. He was angry and yelled "how could you do that to me." Carolyn fears for her safety. Carolyn shows you her cell phone and the call history log and one text Mike sent on February 8, 2021 at 16:22 hours which reads "you're going to get it for treating me this way" from phone number 289-777- BE22. At 21:30, You call the 51 Division Criminal Investigative Bureau and speak to Detective Mansini to update him on your call. The Detective advises you that he is extremely busy and currently applying for a search warrant for an unrelated call. The Detective tell you to obtain as much information as possible for a report and then submit it.At 21:40 hours, you speak to Carolyn at her home address and obtain the information required for the occurrence. You return to the station and write the General Occurrence Report. NEW INFORMATION On Sunday, February 10", 2021 you are working the evening shift (16:00-02:00) with your escort, PC TOMS. You are assigned scout car 5103. At approximately 20:00 hours, you and your escort receive a call from the dispatcher to attend 583 Sherbourne Avenue, Apartment #2113 for further information related to a criminal harassment reported the night before. The complainant is Carolyn Sover, 24 years of age. Buzz code-198. You recognize this address because you were the officer who had attended and recorded the original occurrence. You check your notebook from the previous evening and the Incident number was 1234. You arrive on scene and are buzzed into the building. Youattend apartment #2113 and the door is opened by the female you recognize from the previous evening as Carolyn Sover. She invites you in. Carolyn is crying and shaking. Carolyn tells you that her ex-boyfriend contacted her several times since yesterday, including shortly after the police left last night. Carolyn says that Mike texted her eight times in the past 24 hours and she is scared. Carolyn shows you the texts and you make note of one that is sent to Carolyn at 22:45 hours on Saturday, February 9th, 2021. The text reads "I know you called the police because I saw them leaving your apartment. I told you not to or else you'd suffer the consequences. I'm watching you." The call came from phone number 289-777-6627. You gather the information needed to complete the supplementary report. Before leaving the apartment, you arrange for Carolyn to stay at her sister's place for the night. You exit the apartment and decide to check the two stairwells at each end of the 21* floor. Upon opening the door to the north stairwell, standing on the other side of the door was a male who fits the description you previously obtained from Carolyn as her ex-boyfriend Mike. As you approach the man he says, "Hello." You ask him if his name is Mike Williams, and he says, "Yes. Why?" You inform him that he is under arrest for Criminal Harassment. You read him his right to counsel and caution him of his rights. He replies "She's lying to you. She cheated on me and I just wanted to see who with". Mike has his cell phone in his hand at the time of arrest. You take his cell phone from him. You complete a "pat down" search of Mike and then take him to your scout car. You handcuff Mike and place him in the back seat of the scout car. You notify the dispatcher that you have a male, 28 years old under arrest for criminal harassment and are transporting him to 51 Division. Upon arrival at 51 Division, the accused is booked into the police station by 5/5gt Franklin and placed into interview room #2. You attend the Criminal Investigative Bureau and speak to Detective Mansini. You update Detective Mansini on the arrest, and you are advised to submit a Supplementary Arrest Report
