Physical security of a lab must always be maintained. Download the attached lab management guide by ASCLD, and get familiar with the requirements for running and managing a computer forensics lab.

Next, while visiting school computer lab(s) or any physical location of your choice (if possible and safe for your health), make the following observations:

How many people go in and out during a period? Can you identify them? Who are they, staff, students or faculty?

Who monitors the space?

Is equipment secure?

Are file cabinets locked?

Can the rooms be locked with security code?

If it were a computer forensic lab, what changes would you have to make?

What changes are needed for the facility to meet forensic lab requirements?
