Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) is a Southern California public school district and previous information was gathered about the district and Morse Elementary School in my survey. Personal experience from working for GEMS Education (GEMS), a Middle Eastern private education company, and personally working in admissions at GEMS United School (GUS) for over 4 years makes for some interesting comparisons within the education industry. In general, this entails comparing an overseas private school organization verse a public educational organization within California.

Organizations around the world in the education industry are a bit unique on how similar yet different they are. Looking at education globally, there are many different kinds of curriculum across the world. In some countries, there are public verse private education options but this often depends on how the local government sets up education for their people. In the middle east, GEMS Education (GEMS) is a well establish network of private schools that offers a variety of curriculum options. Several middle eastern countries offer public education only to the local nationals, this leaves all the expatriate workers to enroll their children into private, usually for profit, educational institutions. The majority of the working force in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are not considered local which leaves the majority of the children population attending private schools. While in the United States, free public school is offered to all residences usually no matter their immigration status and it is a requirement for children to attend school. The UAE requires children to be in school, also, but does not provide a free option to non-local residents leaving the burden of paying for education on parents. These are examples of some of the broad different external factors that impact education organizations from the foundation of how the school is organized from its origin. Wither private or public, there is the common thread of an external government department dictating some of the requirement imposed on these organizations. All these education institutions have to report to a controlling government authority and abide any changes the government imposes.
