Planning Tools - Work Breakdown Structure

Purpose

To practice one planning technique, work breakdown structure.

Task

In this assignment, we will develop a Work Breakdown Structure.

Brainstorm 5 projects that you plan to do recently (life or work). For example, find a job, prepare an interview, organize a birthday/wedding party, projects assignment by your line manager, etc.

Rank them from 1 to 5 (1 is most important and 5 is least important).

Choose the most important project (rank 1).

Define the project title and describe the current situation or the problem that the project addresses.

Break down the project activities/deliverables that are needed to realize your project. List the activities (mind mapping method is recommended, but not required)

Develop a work breakdown structure as the structure below (you can use Word or PowerPoint, Insert SmartArt Graphic/Hierarchy, or simply manually draw the work breakdown structure).

Grading Criteria

Listed 5 projects with ranking.

The work breakdown structure is well developed.

Submit a properly formatted document on time in Canvas.

Note

Please don't be bogged down the format and software to use, please focus on mind-mapping and obtaining the work breakdown structure.
