Exam 2B V3 retest Write down relevant equations, draw diagrams, and show all your work for full credit. 1. (20 points) Watch the units. You are supplied with a 15 V battery and a piece of hawgonium with a resistivity of 0.31 Qm. The piece of hawgonium is a cylinder with a length of 2.5 cm and a radius of 0.55 cm. You do not need to use circuit symbols, but it must be clear what everything is. A B. TTremmpo List all known quantities with variable name. Sketch the arrangement of the battery connected to the ends of the hawgonium cylinder. You will treat this as a resistor. Label the positive and negative ends of the battery. Indicate the direction of the current in the closed circuit. What is the resistance of the piece of hawgonium if wires are connected to the flat ends? This will be the 'resistor' for the following questions. What is the current through the resistor when the circuit is closed? What is the electric potential change, AV, across the resistor? Which end of the battery is the high potential end of the resistor connected to? How much power is supplied by the battery? What is the power dissipated by the resistor? What form(s) does the power dissipation take? If an identical battery is connected in series to the first one, what is the total emf and the current in the circuit? Would changing the length of the piece of hawgonium used change the current in the circuit? Why or why not
