The company has added many new customers and they have had to build a new manufacturing site to keep up with demand. They have also hired many new employees. Among these new employees are a group of eager young business experts who have been pushing Ken to build a new information system to better help them do their jobs. Ken is realizing that building a new information system is a big investment and he decides he needs to hire you once again to advise him. You talk to the IT specialists and many of them are very experienced but have never built an enterprisewide information system before. However, the IT specialists are very confident and they have been asking Ken to let them build it. You explain to Ken that he may be able to save money by contracting an outside company to install their readymade and tested system but you recommend that they build the information system in-house. What will you say to Ken to convince him to let the IT specialists build it? He eventually agrees but requests that you stay on to advise the young business experts on their role in building the new system. You meet with the young business experts and you tell them that they will play a very important part in helping the IT specialist to build the new information system. A few months later Ken Sims calls you to say that the development of the new information has come to a stop. You talk to the business experts and they tell you that the IT experts did not take their requests seriously and they moved on to developing the system on their own. The business experts were worried that the new system would not suit their needs so they complained to Ken. You talk to the IT specialists and you learn that they were not happy to be getting advice from these young business experts and so they ignored them. You explain to the IT specialist that they have no choice to meet with the business experts otherwise Ken will cancel the project altogether. Reluctantly they agree to meet with the business experts and you explain specifically how this will benefit them. Eventually the new system is complete and everyone is very happy. Ken Sims is also relieved but he tells you that building the new information system cost a lot of money and he needs to know that it can serve the company for a long time.
