Adrian borrowed RM200,000 from Tatiana in April 2020 and promised Tatiana that he

would repay the loan before October 2020. Adrian did not keep his promise and Tatiana has

threatened to sue him. Thus, Adrian's father, David, offered to pay RM80,000 to Tatiana, if

Tatiana would accept the sum as full settlement of the loan made to Adrian, and release him from

his obligation to pay the balance. Tatiana agreed to this proposal and David paid the sum of

RM80,000 to Tatiana. However, two weeks later, Tatiana's solicitor, Mr Bakar, contacted Adrian

and told him that he was still liable to pay the balance of the loan. Mr Bakar stated that Tatiana's

promise to release him from the balance of the loan was not binding on Tatiana.
