When patients from the United States choose to have a commercial transplant of a kidney in a third world country, do they suffer more medical complications, including but not limited to post-surgery years of survival compared to patients who only have kidney transplants in the United States? In conclusion, I want to prove that with popular theory seeking a commercial transplant overseas can cause more significant overall medical complications than having a kidney transplant done domestically.

Independent Variable: Classification of patients (recipients of overseas organ and recipients of domestic organ)

This is the preliminary data that need to be determined. This is independent because it is already defined, and it is not affected by any factor or components of the research.

Dependent Variable: The number of post-surgery complications

It is dependent on the classification of the patient. The initial claim that I want to prove in conducting this research is that recipients of overseas organs experienced more complications than those who received a domestic organ.

A chi-square test would be practical to evaluate the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis of equality between the variables assuming the fact of testing this hypothesis under the assumption of an independent variable categorical in my subject case, "patient classification." Once this quantitative variable has been converted to a categorical variable, we proceed to the calculation of this non-parametric test to consequently proceed to contrast the proposed research hypothesis and, in this sense, conclude on rejecting or not rejecting the null hypothesis of equality between the variables.

5.Explain which would be the most appropriate and why.

Chi-Square, specifically Test for Independence, is used to determine whether or not a relationship exists between two categorical variables (nominal or ordinal). The test includes categorical variables: classification of patients (independent variable) and level of post-surgery complications (dependent variable)

Example: level of post-surgery complications:

Grade I - any deviation from surgery without the need for surgical intervention

Grade II - requiring treatment with drugs

Grade III - requiring surgical intervention

Grade IV - a life-threatening complication

Grade V - the death of a patient

Conclusion of Chi-square can be:

Classification of patients is related to the level of post-surgery complications.

Classification of patients is not related to the level of post-surgery complications.

Advantages:

1. It is easy to compute
2. Makes no assumptions about the distribution of the population
3. It is flexible in handling data from both two group and multiple group studies

Disadvantages:

1. Sample size requirements
2. The difficulty of interpretation when there are large numbers of categories (20 or more) in the independent or dependent variables
3. All participants measured must be independent, meaning that an individual cannot fit in more than one category.
