TION. In an oil cooler 60 g's of hot oil anters a metal pipe (OD 25 mm, wall thickness 2 mm, thermal conductivity 45 W/(m.K). Twice of this ruass of cooling water flows through the ensuier space between the pipe and a large concentric pipe. Scale with a thickocss of 0.08 mm and k = 0.9 W/(mK) has formed on the inside surface of the inner pipe. The oil enters at 420 K. and has to be cocled to 320 K, while water ciers at 290 K. The film coefficients on the oil side and the water side are 1.6 kW/(m2K) and 3.6 kW/(m2K), respectively. Calculaie the length of the pipe required for this cooling for the: a) parallel tlow of the fluids [4.425 :) b) counter iow of the fluids [2.976 Data: Specific heat capacity of oil = 2.6 kJ/(kg. K) Specific heat capacity of water = 4.186 kJ/(kg.K)
