Introduction

All corporations with complex management process focusing on achieving future goals, regardless of their specific nature, will require a thorough analysis of its structure and procedure components. SWOT analysis encompasses an organizational internal factors including strengths and weakness, and external factors including opportunities and threats analysis. This is beneficial to develop strategic plans, policies, and evaluate an organization's foundation.

Challenges in SWOT Analysis

As a part of committee performing SWOT analysis for a corporation, one would find "threats" section to be the toughest to investigate.Threats are constantly changing factors as company grows strengths and move up into the marketplace. For example, a company may need to move to another geographic area where strengths changes due to new opportunities in that specific area. These are also not dependable on the firm itself but rather the environment surrounding the corporation. Threats increases as the firm's competition increases and since this situation is not steady, it is hard to determine and plan for future threats.

Challenges in Threats

Since there is no control over external environment of an organization, one needs to first identify what constitutes these factors. These includes marketplace trends, country's economy, demographic location of an organization, relationships with partners/stakeholders, and regulatory policy. All of these elements is not restricted to time and can change with respect to time. Trends in marketplace and economic conditions will affect current and future planning, making it harder to analyze. Political changes and new regulations may also play a role in process management of these firms. The level of degree for these changes may also give rise to new threats or risks.
