In 2018, an estimated 431,000 Filipino families have been victims of burglaries according to the Social Weather Stations.[2] Due to the prevalence of burglaries, 55% of Filipino adults are afraid that burglars might break into their houses. [2] In Cebu City as of February 2021, crime rates like homes being robbed and the substantial properties inside being stolen has a Crime Index of 52.55.[3] One of the best ways to reduce the likelihood of burglaries is by installing security devices such as security cameras and intrusion alarms.[4] Security systems should continuously monitor the door and windows of the home especially when the owners are asleep or out of the house since burglaries are more likely to occur during those moments.[5] There are plenty of security devices for sale in the Philippines; however, there is no affordable security system for middle-income class families that incorporates cameras, alarms, and sensors, alerts both the authorities and the owners, and saves a video evidence of the burglary in one system.
