The Welsh language is considered to be a Brittonic language because it has roots in British Celtic languages and it is also included in the Breton and Cornish. The cultural groups that mostly used Welsch as a spoken language were the celtic Britons, they were a group of iron age people who lived in what is now wales, England and southern Scotland. The second cultural group was the post$-$roman Britons this group consisted of people who left britain in roughly the early $5$th century and evolved into distinct regions with the Welsch speaking area turning into wales. The Welsh language has a very rich literary tradition and history that roughly dates back to $4,000$ years ago.

The dialect of the Welsch language varies from region to region and as a result of this different words can have a varying meaning depending on where the person is speaking and the pronunciation of the word they are using as well. The last key characteristic of the Welsch language is that its literature has a very long tradition dating back to the $6$th century. The literary works that are composed of the Welsch language has been poetry, prose, and religious texts.
