The average reaction time (noticing the problem and pressing the brake) is tr before the car starts to slow down. (b) Safety experts often use a reaction time of tr = 1.5 s and a safe deceleration of 4.6 In / s2. \"That is the stopping distance for an initial speed of 30 mph and 60 mph? (c) Most modern cars have an anti-lock brake system (ABS), which modulates the braking pres sure up to 15 times per second to make sure your wheels don't skid, causing you to lose control of the vehicle and reduce your braking power. One advantage is that you are able to still steer the vehicle out of the way of danger. Suppose you are driving on a wet or icy read. When you hit the brakes your tires skid and slide on the road, and you are unable to steer the vehicle. Use the coefcient of kinetic friction, let's say pk = 0.2, to nd the new deceleration and stopping distance assuming the same reaction time and a speed of 60 mph
