Propylene (C3H6) is fed to the chemical reactor and produces both acrolein and acrylic acid in the two competing reactions: C3H6+O2C3H4O+H2OC3H6+23O2C3H4O2+H2O The feed to the reactor is 100 mols C3H6,200 mols O2 and 60 mols steam (H2O).85% of the propylene is converted with a yield of 75 mols of acrolein based on feed.
