8. An oil reservoir on UTRGV campus is discovered with reservoir temperature of 250 F and reservoir pressure of 4000 psia at the depth of 5,000 ft. The reservoir is bounded by a fault. The reservoir has a drainage radius of 1490 ft, horizontal permeability of So md, vertical permeability of 10 md, and reservoir thickness of 100 ft. The porosity of the reservoir is 10% with water saturation of 90% and oil saturation of 10%. The pore compressibility was measured to be 9x 10 psia! There is a free gas zone above the oil reservoir with initial gas volume of 20 x 10 SCF. MECE 4370 students designed a vertical deviated wellbore with deviation angle of 60 degrees from horizontal, wellbore radius of 0.328 ft with a case and perforated completion running from the top of reservoir down to the middle of reservoir for 50 ft with perforations of radius (pet) 0.0208 ft and length (sert) of 1.2 ft with 2 shots per foot (SPF) and phasing angle (C) of 60 degrees. During drilling and completion of the well, students observed that mud and cement solids penetrated into the formation for a depth of 2 ft, resulting in the permeability of that one to be reduced to 10% of the initial reservoir permeability. Properties of the oil and gas are shown in the figures below. Formation volume factor of water (B..) is 1.0 bbl/STB with water compressibility factor of 3 x 10 psia. The well is put on production with surface flowing pressure of 500 psia and surface temperature of 80F, resulting in wellbore producing at GLR of 200 SCF/STB with the wellbore pressure profile at the current production rate shown below. a. Determine the production rate (STB/d) for this reservoir at the surface (24 points)? b. Determine the volume of oil (STB) that will be produced as the reservoir pressure is depleted to 2000 psia (18 points)? c. If the surface flowing pressure is increased to 4,500 psia, determine the required reservoir pressure if the production rate becomes 100 STB/d (12 points)? 0.620 15 14 0.015 GS 1.3 pre TVSH 0.010 12 0.005 1.1 T 0 0.000 1000 2000 4000 5000 6200 1000 2000 3000 Pressure 3000 Preture ipsi 4000 5000 6000 1000 2 800 15 600 RSCHISTE Ida 1 400 05 200 0 1000 2000 4000 0 0 5300 8000 1000 3000 Pressure 2000 3000 Pressure 4000 5000 6060 Page 4 of 8 50 45 p/b/119) 40 35 0 1000 2000 5000 3000 4000 Pressure (psi) 6000 1000 2000 GLR: 0-1000 (in steps of 100) 3000 4000 () dog 5000 6000 7000 8000 9000 10,000 0 500 1000 1500 2000 2500 3000 3500 4000 4500 Pressure (psi)
