2 (a) Wire Y 1 m Q. Wire X FIGURE 2 FIGURE 2 shows two parallel long straight rigid wires X and Y, each of the wire carry the current of 20 A and 10A in opposite directions. The wires are I m apart. (i) Determine the magnitude and direction of the magnetic flux density at point Q which is equidistance from wire X and wire Y. (from front view) (ii) Calculate the distance, r from wire X to point A where the resultant magnetic field strength is zero. [6 marks] (b) 34 cm d= 8 cm FIGURE 3 A straight wire carrying current placed at near the circular loop at a distance of 8 em as shown in FIGURE 3. The current flow in the circular loop and straight wire are I1= 4.40 A and Iz= 11.0 A respectively. This circular loop has diameter of 34 cm. Determine the magnitude and direction of the resultant magnetic field at the centre of circular loop. [4 marks]
