Business ethics are a specific subcategory within our ethical system. Business ethics are not contrary to our broader ethical system but involve issues that are generally not squarely addressed by generic ethical constraints.

You may have encountered an ethical dilemma similar to one of those described below. If so, please explain how you resolved the dilemma, and, if you have not encountered such a situation, please explain how you would be likely to respond.

You must answer all three scenarios. Also, keep in mind that even if a response is based primarily on your opinion, you must include supporting references/citations.

1. Your coworker asks you to cover for him/her so he can sneak out of work early to go to his/her son's softball game. Do you agree? If he went anyway, would you keep silent? Why/why not? Does it matter if you were not directly asked about his/her absence? Please explain. Be sure to answer all parts of this question.

1. You inadvertently overhear two supervisors talking about an unannounced decision that Bob is going to be laid off at the end of the quarter. Bob is a good friend of yours. Do you tell him? Why/why not?

1. Employees often work in teams to create marketing campaigns, develop new products or fine-tune services, yet rarely does everyone in a group contribute equally to the final product. If three members of a five-person team did all the work, should those three members demand to receive proper credit while pointing out that two members of the team did not pull their weight? Why/why not?
