CASE Study: Prescriptions Order System at RX pharmacy chain The cases study is for an online software for a pharmacy chain which is intended to allow access to prescriptions and other related information to listed doctors, pharmacies, insurance carriers, and patients. Description of the software requirements: The software allows patients to access to the system to lockup prices of medications, update their insurance information, check on the availability of generic medications, request prescription refill, see if their refill is ready for pick up, and print their purchase history or copies of individual receipts of medications they have bought before. Initial set of data required by the system 1. Patients are identified by SSN, and have the following attributes: names (First, Middle, Last), addresses (Street, city, state, zip code), email address, phone number, age (calculated based on birth date) insurance information (member number, group number, group name, insurance company code), known allergies, and medical conditions. 2. Doctors are identified by PhysicianID, and have the following attributes: name (First, Middle, Last) addresses (Street, city, state, zipcode), phone number, practice name (e.g., clinic or hospital name), email address, specialty and years of experience 3. Each medication sold by the pharmacy is identified by its trade name and have the following attributes: formula (active ingredients), name of the pharmaceutical company, price, name of generic alternative if available, treatment conditions, side effects, and one page description of the medication, recommended dosage chart by age and condition, and inventory related information like (unit of measurement, quantity at hand, and quantity base-line) 4. Each pharmacy has a name, primary contact person, address, and phone number 5. Every patient has a primary physician 6. Each pharmacy sells several medications and tracks the price for each. A medication could be sold at several pharmacies, and the price could vary from one pharmacy to another 7. Doctors prescribe medications to patients. A doctor could prescribe one or more medications for several patients, and a patient could obtain prescriptions from several doctors 8. Each prescription has a date, and a quantity, dosage associated with it, and the number of allowed refills. You can assume that a doctor may prescribe the same medication for the same patient more than once. 9. Each Insurance company is identified by insurance company code and has a name, phone number, addresses (Street, city, state, zipcode) and the name of contact person( First, Middle, Last), contact-person phone and email
