f) Operating Margin

g) Profit potential and durability

h) Fixed, variable, and semi-variable costs

Case/Key Assumptions

IMAGINE: You were hired to build a Basic Financial Planning of an International Business Venture in South America. The plan is to launch FLY - Financially Literate Youth, a club that will target high school students, providing a safe and fun environment where they can learn about finances, such as budgeting, taxes, financial planning, and investing.

We expect to have 15 club members during our first year. We believe that 15 is a great target starting point due to the group work we plan to do. We will gain student interest in our club by providing the students with a fun and interactive stock track simulation. We have learned that, in the past, financial literacy clubs struggle to gain/keep student attention. However, by offering these simulation focused opportunities, we plan to be able to keep the attention of these younger students.

We expect to see mainly juniors and seniors signing up for our club initially. However, within the first three years, we expect to see an increase in participation from the younger grades as well. Once we begin to see this change, we plan to let the older members act as mentors to their younger members. By doing this, we expect to continue to see larger increases in enrollment from all grades.

By using our $500 marketing budget we also plan to expand to other schools. Our goals and curriculum will remain the same for each school. We believe that with our curriculum we will be able to gain interest regardless of which school we are at.
