PLEASE HELP - STAT PROJECT

You work at a hospital that has always been using "Trexatine" as a medication to treat autoimmune disease flare-ups. While Trexatine is effective in helping with the disease, it has a negative side effect...it raises Systolic Blood Pressure by an average of 12.34 points. This can be a problem for patients who have high blood pressure to begin with. A new drug, "Florexitol," has been equally as effective as Trexatine in treating the autoimmune flare-ups, but the hospital is interested in seeing if Florexitol has a lower average impact on Systolic Blood Pressure than Trexatine. A total of 136 patients have received this new drug, and their Systolic Blood Pressure increases were noted. Each patient was given an ID number from 1 to 136. A random number generator was used to produce 30 ID numbers, and you are to use those 30 patients in your sample. (The ID numbers below tell you which patients to use...the value you will use in your sample is the Systolic Blood Pressure increase associated with that patient. For instance, the first ID number given to you below is 093, or 93. Go to the data sheet and find person number 93. Person #93 had an increase of 13 points. You will use the number 13 in your data set...not the 93.) Random numbers generated 087 054 060 077 017 085 125 073 006 021 019 101 033 009 003 012 014 029 132 062 050 109 115 072 039 024 046 097 063 005 You are to use these 30 patients to determine if the hospital should switch to this new drug. In other words, you are to see if the average impact on Systolic Blood Pressure with Florexitol is less than 12.34 points. Since you will be doing a test on a medication, you will use a low significance level of .01. You will put together a powerpoint presentation with your recommendation. In your group, you must research tips for making professional powerpoint presentations and

incorporate at least three of those strategies in your presentation. You do not need to add voice to the presentation; you will simply make the slides. The following information needs to appear in your powerpoint: Title slide (4 pts) A slide stating the background/purpose of your study (4 pts) The name of the sample collection method used (6 pts) A slide describing the appropriate shape, center and spread of your data set (30 values) (18 pts, 6 pts each) The steps of your hypothesis test: (30 pts, 6 pts each) Hypotheses T or Z score P-value Conclusion What that means in layman's terms A follow-up 98% confidence interval for the average Systolic Blood Pressure increase for all patients on Florexitol, with confidence statement (14 pts, 7 each) A slide with your recommendation about whether the hospital should switch to Florexitol or if your study didn't show the new drug was better (14 pts)
