Data Sheet: Investigation of Mendelian Patterns of Inheritance Use this data sheet to complete your Chi Square Analysis for each cross performed that identified a mutant allele from your unknown with sufficient numbers of offspring. For alleles you are able to examine further, use the Chi Square table in your lab manual to determine whether or not any deviations from that expected, given predicted Mendelian patterns of inheritance, have likely occurred due to chance. Your hypotheses here should be developed from any conclusions drawn from analysis of offspring from your test crosses, now that you have identified the genotype of the "unknown" parent flies. Genotype of your unknown for all genes examined (e.g. XYvg+/vg+se+/se ). If you were unable to draw a definitive conclusion, list all remaining possible genotypes. Was your unknown fly found/suspected to be heterozygous or confirmed hemizygous for any mutant alleles from crosses you performed? Yes No For any of these where expected values are all above 5 (based on the number of offspring observed), you have a data set that can be used to examine if these alleles follow the predicted Mendelian inheritance patterns. Use the charts on the following pages as they apply, one per gene where you are able to perform Chi square analysis.
