Suppose you meet a person who hasn't ever taken a math class and knows nothing about math, and you say you're taking calculus. The person asks what it's about, and you say calculus mainly involves derivatives. The person asks a few more questions: A. "What is a derivative?" Describe to that person what a derivative is in layman's terms (i.e. simple, non-technical language that anyone can understand). Your description must be a correct representation of a derivative based on what we've learned in this course. Write at least 2 sentences. Do not use the following words: rate, change - and remember, no technical terms or language can be used since the person knows nothing about math. Technical terms include, but are not limited to: slope, tangent line, secant line, limit, etc. B. "What field are you going to major in, and how do you think derivatives can be used in your field of study?" Try and create the best description, not only because this is part of your grade, but the student whose description is deemed to be the best will receive 2 bonus points (the second best will receive 1 bonus point) You can only post your answers to the above items once in this discussion, and cannot edit them or submit more answers, so be sure your post is exactly what you want it to be before submitting. The goal of this discussion is to help firm up your understanding of what a derivative is. Thinking about how to explain a derivative in layman's terms will help you dig deep into the concept of a derivative
