- Collect a 50mL Buret and using your 100mL graduated cylinder 50mL of 0.3MNaOH solution - Using your 100mL beaker collect 40mL of unknown H2SO4 solution - Clean and rinse your buret in the manner shown by your TA. - Fill the buret and record the initial mL volume in your lab notebook. - Using your 25mL graduated cylinder measure out exactly 10mL of H2SO4 unknown and place it into a small Erlenmeyer flask. - Add 2-3 drops of Phenolphthalein indicator to the H2SO4 unknown solution and swirl to mix. - Place the Erlenmeyer flask under the buret and lower the buret so that the tip is just inside of the mouth of the flask. - Open the stopcock on the buret slowly and allow the base to drop into the acid in a slow but steady manner. Stir by svirling the flask continuously. - Continue the titration until you see a light pink colored solution that does not return to clear with stirring. - Record the final mL volume of base in your lab notebook. - Repeat this process twice more. Be sure to slow down your addition of base at the point where you have previously determined the end point (faintest of pink colored solution).
