please Here are two more effective study strategies to add to your study repertoire: Organizing

There is an important cognitive principle to remember when studying: The way information is encoded determines ease of retrieval. In other words, the way material is organized when you encounter it largely determines whether you will remember it in the future. Because of this, it is important to spend time thinking about how you are organizing your study materials. Well organized notes, outlines, and study guides will likely lead to better memory of the material, while sloppy organization will likely lead to poor memory. Clear organization creates a mental framework for newly learned information. Then, the mental framework acts as a retrieval cue for the information you are trying to remember. For example, you might be able to "see" a mental image of your highly organized notes while taking an exam. Try taking your notes and creating an outline of only the key terms on a sperate sheet of paper. When you write the key term, try to remember as much as possible about that term, then check your notes to see if you missed anything. Eventually, you won't need your notes any longer and will only need the outline. After a while, you won't need anything!

Dual Coding

When using the dual coding strategy, students use both visual and verbal representations of material to enhance learning. In other words, you supplement the verbal material in your text or lecture with visual aids like graphs, diagrams, flowcharts, concept maps, infographics, animations, etc. Research has shown that combining visual and verbal elements helps create a strong and organized mental representation of the information, leading to improved comprehension and recall. Of course, your text and lecture materials will likely have many visual aids when appropriate, but this strategy is particularly effective when a student generates visuals on their own and from memory. When reading difficult material, try to think of how you can represent the information visually.
