1. The first thought that compelled me was of that being in the begin which was a valid lesson from history. In the beginning I read on Alexander the Great and his legacy on large scale structure of civilization. This example is one that speaks to me considering the Greeks were very successful in the formulation and influence they had as a empire on the region and the world. But after Alexander's death the empire fell so bad due to the structure of governance was not made to be sustainable after Alexander's death. To think that today we as a modern society never look back be shocked by that is amazing to me. 2. The managerialism part of the chapter discusses how James Burnham foresaw our contemporary society's ruling class as being CEOs rather than professional civil servants. I think this chapter captures the modern world where we have seen a massive overhaul of private companies coming into the sphere of politics and CEO's being more vocal on such issues as well as these figures pouring money and in resources into the matter of politics. Where individuals with money and power use their power to come into the world of politics and use it as a space to abuse it for personal and for financial gains. 3. The final thing I found interesting was the analytics of looking into a city and its certain dynamics. One example that comes into mind for me right away is how public administrators and urban planners use such data to determine where growth can be done in the best way possible.
